We really like Shaun Kardinal’s work. Mixing predominantly found imagery like postcards and leaflets or booklets with stitched pattern and perspective lines, he creates small but beautiful collage pieces with his own style literally running through them. He also does a nice turn in photography. You can see lots of his work on his flickr stream, although thanks to Design Milk for the original link.

A Brief History of Picture Postcards
Deltiology is the official name for postcard collecting. It is thought to be one of the three largest collectable hobbies in the world along with coin and stamp collecting. Queen Victoria was an early postcard collector.
Picture postcards were first made legal in Britain in 1894, lagging some way behind the rest of Europe. However, in 1902 Britain was the first country to divide the back to allow for both the address and a message whilst the front could have a full picture.
George Stewart of Edinburgh is thought to be the first publisher of picture postcards in the UK. The tradition continues today - Museums & Galleries Marketing published its first postcard collection earlier this year.
