We really like Lisa Congdon’s illustration work, and judging by her client list we’re not alone. It’s bright, simple and manages to combine an element of David McKee retro whilst feeling very fresh. Lovely stuff. See more of her work on her portfolio site here.

We’ve spotted a trend lately for all things bicycle - related, so we’ve collected a few of our favourite Bicycle art, stationery and such:

Honk - Charlotte Farmer

Two Wheels for Victory - Dan Cassaro

CMY Bikes and I want to ride my Bicycle - Welaughindoors

Bicycle Coasters - Impulse Purchase

Cards by Sort Letterpress

Bike 4 - Ilovedust

Bike Notebook from Paperchase

The humble paperclip. A thing of simple beauty, still in use over 140 years or more since it’s first patent in the United States in 1867. Also, more commonly used for purposes not related to holding paper together. Stress toy, or nail cleaner anyone?

We like the clever use of it’s shape in the bicycle railings shown here (photo by Ardent Eye), and in the creation of a colourful alphabet by handmadefont.com. Lastly, we are impressed by the story of the little red paperclip shown here which, through a series of online trades by Kyle Macdonald, became a (real) 2 bedroom house. Details here.

We like stationery. We also like vintage. Ergo, we love these vintage stationery illustrations. Sourced from the excellent Letterology blog, these particular illustrations come from an original office supplies catalogue by a Washington-based company, Shaw & Borden.

We loved the letterpress cards and stationery created by SORT, seen at Top Drawer this week. These clever guys have undertaken commissions from the likes of the V&A, Magma Books, The Design Museum and more. We love the handmade and old fashioned feel of their work.
